30 Day Challenge (Books): Day 6
Day Six: A book that makes you sad - The Lovely Bones (Alice Sebold) At risk of sounding like a complete fool, whilst I first read it years ago, it was only recently that it occured to me that despite the quite hopeful ending, Susie is still dead and will remain so and even though we know everything, her family never find out what really happened to her. It just struck me that sometimes things...

Topshop: Order Cancelled
Seeing this beaut in my inbox: On closer inspection: The glittery trousers we were happy enough to let you order four days ago and which you have based an outfit around are now out of stock. So no trousers for Helena. Haha. Love, Topshop. Followed up by a helpful: Why don’t you browse our website for more of our shit? Love Topshop. Twenty minutes of stewing in a puddle of rage...

My Bad
dearoldlove: No matter how upset I am we aren’t together anymore, I have no right to ever talk or think badly of you. You were wonderful. It was me who messed everything up.

30 Day Challenge (Books): Day 4
Day 4: Favourite book of your favourite series - Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince (J. K. Rowling) I loved all the books and thought they got progressively better… until Harry Potter and the most tedious, frustrating camping trip ever (a.k.a. Deathly Hallows). So HBP remains my fave and is the cut off point from whence I make up the rest of the story in my head.

30 Day Challenge (Books): Day 1
Day 1: Best book you read last year – The Virgin Suicides (Jeffery Eugenides) This book had a really similar feel to the Lovely Bones and if that feeling was a colour, it would be palest pink with little gold flecks, surrounded by a dark plum background.

Until We Weren't
dearoldlove: The hardest part about this is that I don’t even know what went wrong. We were having a lot of fun until we weren’t.

Today I am reading.... #1
Blindness - Jose Saramago A lot of what I read are books set in and about dystopic worlds. The films that give me nightmares are apocalyptic films. And all of them have in common the feeling of a day of judgement and a sense of hopelessness and being trapped. Only, I don’t think I’ve ever felt them as acutely as when reading Blindness. I think for me what makes all these films and...
